Barb Humphreys is the head nurse and clinic director at Remington Laser Dermatology, working alongside Dr. Todd Remington. She initially worked with Dr. Kent Remington before taking a break in 1989 to have her first child. In 2004, she rejoined the practice with Dr. Todd Remington after spending several years in trauma nursing. Barb is passionate about treating vascular birthmarks and is actively involved with the Vascular Birthmark Foundation (VBF). 

In 2023, she was the only nurse on the committee that developed and published the first international consensus guidelines for vascular birthmarks. She also has extensive training and a special interest in treating various types of scars, including burn, traumatic, surgical, self-harm, and acne scars. Outside of work, Barb enjoys time with her blended family of 7 children and 13 grandchildren, with more on the way.

Pam is a registered nurse (RN) and the nurse manager for Dr. Kent Remington at the Remington Laser Centre, where she has worked for 16 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with clinical training at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.

Pam began her career in ophthalmology, managing an outpatient surgical facility in Arizona, where she provided direct patient care and managed medical teams across 5 satellite clinics. She is the clinic’s RN injector, bringing 16 years of aesthetic and dermatological experience, having been directly trained by Dr. Kent Remington. Additionally, she is skilled in aesthetic laser treatments focused on facial rejuvenation.

Pam is dedicated to helping patients receive comprehensive care both during clinic hours and by being available on-call after hours. She also contributes to the mentorship of resident physicians and specialists through teaching sessions offered by Dr. Kent Remington.

To stay at the forefront of her field, Pam regularly attends educational conferences, seminars, and workshops so that her patients receive the most current services.

Outside of her professional life, Pam balances her time with her family and is especially proud of her 4 children’s achievements. Her background in competitive figure skating during her formative years instilled a drive for excellence, which she applies to her career. Pam enjoys watching her children’s sporting events, photography, and travelling.

Ioulia Sedlova is a registered nurse with over 15 years of experience in both acute and clinical settings. Since joining the Remington Laser Dermatology Centre in 2008, she has become a valuable member of the team, specializing in various laser treatments and therapeutic Botox®️ injections for conditions like hyperhidrosis and headaches.

Ioulia is passionate about staying at the forefront of her field, actively participating in professional conferences and workshops to continually enhance her knowledge and skills.

Ioulia is committed to providing personalized patient care. She takes the time to understand each individual’s unique needs and concerns so they can feel comfortable and confident throughout their treatment journey.

Outside of work, Ioulia enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and kids.

Katie Primavera is a dedicated laser specialist at Remington Laser Dermatology Clinic, where she has worked alongside Dr. Todd Remington since 2019. Prior to joining the clinic, Katie specialized in geriatric care, bringing a compassionate approach to her role. She values the clinic’s commitment to treating patients with the same care they would offer family, which aligns with her personal philosophy of patient-centred care.

Katie takes pride in educating her patients on their treatment options, whether for cosmetic procedures or specialized care related to a diagnosis. Her passion lies in empowering patients to make informed decisions about their healthcare, with a particular focus on preventative treatments for skin rejuvenation and progressive skin conditions.

Katie enjoys continuously learning and appreciates the family-like atmosphere among her coworkers. Her expertise includes:

• Treating precancerous lesions such as actinic keratoses (AKs)
• Seborrheic keratoses (SK)
• Performing surgeries for skin cancers like squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC)

She is also skilled in administering fractional PDT for preventive care and rejuvenation treatments.

Erica is a registered nurse who has worked closely with Dr. Kent Remington since the spring of 2021. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in communications and then found her passion for helping others, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Calgary thereafter. 

In hindsight, having a communications background has been incredibly beneficial in providing the best care for her patients. 

Prior to working for the Remington team, Erica worked predominantly in the areas of women’s health, including fertility, maternal care, and chronic disease management. 

Because Erica is dedicated to helping others achieve optimum wellness, she became passionate about dermatology and aesthetic medicine, allowing her to best support her patients in gaining strengthened confidence, thus improving both their physical and emotional well-being.

When not connecting with patients, Erica enjoys traveling, reading, continued learning, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.

Zoë is a dedicated dermatology nurse with a specialization in injectables and lasers. With a background in in-hospital nursing, specifically in labour and delivery, she brings critical care skills and a compassionate approach to her work. Zoë is known for her precision and attention to detail, aligning perfectly with the clinic’s custom approach to patient care. She is highly skilled in administering neuromodulators, deoxycholic acid, and PRP injections and is known for her neck rejuvenation treatments, including the 4D lower face and neck tightening procedure.

Experienced with the Fotona Dynamis laser, Zoë offers specialized treatments such as NightLase™ for snoring and IntimaLase™ for laser tightening. She also provides a range of anti-aging services, including laser micro peels, microneedling, and PRP injections. In addition to her aesthetic experience, Zoë assists Dr. Todd Remington during his specialized procedures, making her a versatile and essential part of the clinic team.

Passionate about her work, Zoë enjoys creating personalized, innovative treatment plans to meet the individual needs of each patient. Outside the clinic, she enjoys fitness, the outdoors, and reading.

Karen Taylor is a certified laser technician with training and certification from the National Laser Institute in Scottsdale, AZ, in 2012. She has been working in the laser field since 2012 and has been a valued member of the Remington family since 2016. Karen prioritizes laser safety and is passionate about staying at the forefront of advancements in laser technology. She is a strong advocate for quality skincare and is dedicated to delivering the best results for her clients.

Born and raised in Calgary, Karen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling to destinations with palm trees, and being a fierce animal lover. She also maintains a healthy lifestyle and appreciates a great sense of humour.

Crystal has worked in the medical field for 16 years, joining the Remington Laser Dermatology Centre in 2014. 

Crystal is a certified phlebotomist with a passion in platelet rich plasma (PRP) and all the amazing things it can do for her patients’ skin and hair. She assists Dr. Remington part-time and provides for her own patients part-time, specializing in hair loss, PRP Rejuvenation, and microneedling.  

She’s a mom of 3 very busy boys. She loves music, going to the gym, learning new things, nursing her artistic abilities, and spending time outdoors (mostly in the summer).

Colette has been at the Remington Laser Dermatology Centre since 2004. She is an integral part of the team. She works primarily for Dr. Kent Remington as his executive assistant, but you will often find her greeting patients with a friendly smile at reception. 

She is passionate about keeping Dr Remington organized and helping him with his many training presentations.

She loves interacting with patients and enjoys her daily interactions with colleagues. 

When not working Colette is often travelling, shopping, and enjoying each moment with her 12 grandkids.

Adele has been with the clinic since 2009. You will find her at the front desk—although she’s often running around the clinic taking patient photos, doing technical support, and taking care of all kinds of requests from the doctors.  

She loves technology and how it can help to improve efficiency. She enjoys interacting with patients and being part of the amazing team at Remington Laser Dermatology. 

When not working, she loves spending time with her grandkids, reading, sewing, and quilting. 

Nikki Van der Merwe has been Dr. Todd Remington’s clinic manager since 2018. She has both clinical and administrative experience in the dermatology field, beginning in 2012. 

Before that, she worked for 18 years in radiology, specializing in MRI, CT, and PET/CT. Nikki was head of the scanning department in a private hospital.

Nikki prides herself on helping to create an inclusive, collaborative environment for our staff and a professional, comfortable, and reassuring experience for our patients. She feels very fortunate to be part of the team at Remington Laser.

Tammy Weston has worked for doctors at Remington Laser for 30 years. She started at the front reception and also saw phototherapy patients. 

She left Remington Laser to return home, working for 20 years as a medical transcriptionist and having 4 children. She’s been back at Remington Laser since 2020, assisting Dr. Todd. 

Tammy loves meeting and talking to all the patients. She loves the people she works with. 

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, travelling, spending time with her family, and getting away to her cabin on the Shuswap Lake.

Sarah Galloway-Malysheff began her career as a medical esthetician in 2010. After 6 years in that field, she transitioned to a role as a medical office assistant. She has since accumulated 7 years of experience in Mohs surgical assisting, Mohs surgical coordinating, skin cancer management, and cosmetic dermatology assisting.

Sarah is most often found at the front desk, where she works directly with patients to coordinate their care, but she also assists in treatment rooms and manages the clinic’s surgical equipment lab.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 dogs. She especially loves riding her horse and spending time outdoors in nature. She values the opportunity to continue learning and appreciates the family-like atmosphere among her coworkers and patients. Sarah takes pride in educating patients about their procedures or diagnoses and is passionate about treating skin conditions, including precancerous lesions (AKs) and skin cancers (SCC/BCC), and performing rejuvenation treatments like fractional PDT.

Allaina has worked in the medical field for over 22 years, the majority of those years with Dr. Todd Remington. Her role at the Remington Laser Dermatology Centre is administration duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, product knowledge, and transcribing medical reports. 

In her spare time, Allaina enjoys spending time with my husband and 3 children. Being a basketball player in her college years at Mount Royal, she now loves being busy watching her kids excel at their sports, mainly basketball and volleyball. She also enjoys spending summers at Shuswap Lake waterskiing, wake surfing, and relaxing.
