We Can Help Manage Various Types of Scars

At Remington Laser, we have the expertise, technology, and passion to treat various types of scars. Traumatic, surgical, acne, and keloid scars are complex injuries that have multiple characteristics that need to be addressed differently.

It’s essential to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that focuses on the individual features. Scar remodelling is a process, not a single event, and different modalities tend to work together to enhance outcomes.

Types of Scars

There are 4 types of scars we can help manage and improve at Remington Laser Dermatology.

Traumatic scars result from an injury such as burns, accidents, or signifcant skin damage. As they can vary greatly in type, size and characteristics, they require customized treatment plans to help manage them appropriately.

We have changed our focus to prevent excessive scarring by intervening early in the scar remodeling process, rather than waiting for scar tissue to form.

Starting treatment as early as 2 weeks post procedure, depending on the type of surgery and location, can help enhance outcomes. However, even old, mature scars can often be improved.

Acne scars vary in size, type, and color, so we offer multi-step customized treatment plan.. Skin preparation is an essential step in scar management to help control acne.

Following a medical grade or prescription skincare routine can help nurture healthy skin and enhance treatment results.

Resulting from an exaggerated healing response, keloid scars can be large and painful. They extend beyond the original site of injury and in some cases, form spontaneously.

Keloids usually require multiple steps within each treatment session to address colour, elevation and symptoms.

Our Treatment Technology

At Remington Laser, we offer a comprehensive range of treatment approaches and technologies aimed at effectively reducing scar tissue.

Scars can be complex injuries, but combining multiple therapies often improves results. After a thorough consultation, we can determine a suitable approach from our range of topical products, medicated injections, or laser treatments.

We’re proud to offer innovative technology, including Lumenis UltraPulse, Fotona SP Dynamis, and the Dp4 dermapen for microneedling. These treatments work by stimulating your skin’s natural healing process, encouraging it to produce fresh, healthy cells to replace scarred tissue.

Lumenis UltraPulse CO2 Deep FX and SCAAR FX create tiny, vertical heat zones, penetrating through the entire depth of the scar, breaking it up, and allowing for the enhanced delivery of medication.

As only a small portion of the scar is targeted, the surrounding healthy skin allows it to heal quite quickly.

The Dp4 dermapen is a microneedling technique that involves creating tiny punctures in the skin to trigger collagen production, which aids in skin renewal and scar reduction.

The Dp4 can effortlessly glide over the skin, creating fine vertical channels that help improve the absorption of topical nutrients deeper into the skin. By combining collagen induction therapy with serum treatment, we can offer you a comprehensive solution.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is used to reduce redness and inflammation. Because IPL can break down excess melanin, the M22 IPL treatment can help reduce the appearance of acne scars and hyperpigmentation.

Lumenis M22 ResurFX delivers energy in a fractional pattern into the deep layers of the skin. The energy stimulates collagen production and scar remodelling.

The laser doesn’t harm the top of the skin but instead triggers a natural healing response in the deeper layers. There can be some initial swelling after the procedure.
