Renew Your Skin with Deeper Exfoliation

Chemical peels are designed to deeply exfoliate to restore your skin’s natural glow. This revitalizing treatment is formulated to remove dead skin cells and encourage quick replenishment of new cells. The skin underneath can be brighter and smoother, untouched by daily elements that compromise our skin’s barrier, such as the sun, makeup, and pollution.

By stimulating new tissue growth, we can enhance your skin’s texture and tone. Over time, you can also notice a gradual reduction in acne breakouts, hyperpigmentation, or scarring.

Types of Chemical Peels

There are different types and strengths of peels, including:

  • Superficial (Light) Peels: These use mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) to gently exfoliate and help reduce fine lines, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness.
  • Medium Peels: Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid is used to penetrate deeper into the skin. This peel can help treat early signs of aging, such as fine lines, uneven skin tone or texture, and sun damage.

The depth of the peel directly impacts the required recovery time and intervals between treatments. Your provider will assess your skincare goals and recommend an appropriate option.

Chemical Peel Guidelines: Do’s & Don’ts

When it comes to chemical peels, following appropriate guidelines can help you improve your treatment experience and results. During your pre-treatment consultation, we’ll discuss your medical and skincare history to personalize our preparation and treatment recommendations.

These guidelines aren’t just about enhancing your results—it’s also about helping your skin stay healthy and complication-free. Your skin’s safety is our top priority, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about pre-peel preparation.

Here are a few guidelines you should keep in mind.

Start Pepping Early: About a week before your treatment, start using a mild cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. This routine will help prime your skin for the peel.

Avoid Skin Irritants: Products with retinol, benzoyl peroxide, AHA, BHA, or other exfoliating agents should be avoided 5–7 days before your treatment. These products can irritate your skin prior to the peel.

Keep Hydrated: Drink plenty of water leading up to your treatment. Hydrated skin can respond better to chemical peels.

Skip Sunscreen: Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin can react negatively to the peel.

Schedule Other Treatments: Avoid hair removal, microdermabrasion, injectables, and laser treatments. These can increase skin sensitivity and should be avoided the week before your treatment.

Forget to Share Your History: Before treatment, we’ll review your medical and skincare history so we can take precautions to protect your skin. If you are lactating, pregnant, or may be pregnant, consult your physician before undergoing any treatment.

What to Expect After Your Chemical Peel

After your treatment, you might notice redness, which usually fades within 1–12 hours. While your skin won’t “peel” deeply, you might experience light to moderate flaking in localized areas, which typically lasts 3–7 days.

The night of your treatment, you may feel a slight tightening sensation and dryness. We recommend skipping applying makeup. However, if necessary, you may use mineral makeup.

Let your skin stabilize and rest overnight. Avoid washing your face and any activites where your face may become wet, as this could re-active that chemical peel and cause a chemical burn.

Remember to keep your skin hydrated, as this facilitates healing and helps control any flaking.

How Often Can You Repeat Chemical Peel Treatments?

  • Light peels can be repeated every 1–4 weeks until you get the look you want.
  • Medium-depth peels can be done again every 6–12 months if needed.
