Regain Control of Your Perspiration

Excessive sweating isn’t just about damp clothes and a bit of discomfort. It’s about the anxiety that creeps in when you’re in a social setting or the impact on your mental well-being. If you suffer from hyperhidrosis, you may find yourself wearing darker clothing or avoiding social situations altogether.

Fortunately, there is a minimally invasive treatment option available: therapeutic Botox®️ injections. These injections can help you regain control over your sweat response. Schedule a consultation today to learn more about how we can help.

What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating beyond the body’s need to regulate temperature. It’s not a reaction to weather or physical activity but rather overactive sweat glands.

There are 2 types:

  • Primary (focal) hyperhidrosis affects specific areas like hands, underarms, face, or head,
  • Secondary (general) hyperhidrosis is caused by an underlying medical condition or medication, leading to all-over sweating.

Managing Excessive Sweat with Therapeutic Botox®️ Injections

Therapeutic Botox®️ injections work by selectively blocking nerve signals. When used for hyperhidrosis, the goal is to block the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that signals the glands to release sweat.

These injections can be administered in various areas prone to excessive sweating, like underarms, hands, forehead, and scalp. By stopping the overactive glands, you can regain control over your perspiration and restore your comfort.

The process of therapeutic Botox®️ injections is typically simple and quick. Before your appointment, we’ll provide recommendations and tips on how to prepare. Here are some general suggestions to keep in mind:

  • Avoid shaving your armpits 2–3 days before your appointment.
  • Don’t take aspirin or other blood thinners a few days prior to help prevent bruising.

Using a fine needle, one of our licensed injectors will carefully inject the therapeutic Botox®️ directly into the problem area. The number of injections will depend on the size of the treatment area. The whole process usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour.

Recovery After Hyperhidrosis Treatment

After we’re finished administering Botox®️, you can go about your daily routine. You may experience temporary redness and swelling in the treatment area, which usually resolves within a few hours.

Although no downtime is necessary, we recommend the following precautions:

  • Avoid engaging in exercise or strenuous activities for 24 hours.
  • Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours.

How Long Does Sweat Control Last?

Usually, you can start seeing noticeable results within 2–4 days. However, it may take up to 2 weeks for the injections to take full effect. You’ll likely need repeated treatments every 4–6 months as the sweat glands reactivate.

Our team can answer your questions and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. Schedule a consultation today.
