What Is IPL?

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum light pulses to target pigmentation and vascular lesions in your skin. The light energy creates heat that’s absorbed by hemog l obin and melanin, which destroys the unwanted cells and stimulates collagen production, which means your skin will continue to improve, becoming smoother and more radiant over time.

With the Lumenis M22 IPL technology, we can target various skin concerns on the face and chest.

Your journey towards radiant skin starts with an in-depth consultation where we analyze your skin type and understand your specific concerns. We’ll then craft a customized treatment plan to address your unique needs.

We’ll start by cleaning the skin and applying a cooling gel. You’ll be given protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the light. Then, targeted light pulses are administered to the treatment area, and you may feel a mild warm or snapping sensation. Treatment duration can last 15—30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Following your IPL treatment, we’ll guide you on how to care for your skin. This includes avoiding direct sun exposure and keeping your skin moisturized. You may experience some redness or swelling, but these are temporary and should subside within a few days.

Most patients can return to their normal routine immediately after treatment.

What Is ResurFX?

ResurFX, or fractional laser resurfacing, is a non-ablative treatment that stimulates your skin’s natural healing process. Lumenis ResurFX can deliver precise, column-shaped beams of laser light into your skin, targeting a fraction of your skin at a time. The surrounding skin remains undamaged, which promotes faster healing and minimizes downtime.

ResurFX is customizable, so we can tailor treatment to your specific skin concerns and can treat a wide range of skin conditions.

Before your treatment, we’ll have a detailed consultation to assess your skin and understand your goals. We’ll guide you through pre-treatment care, which includes avoiding sun exposure and certain skincare products that could sensitize your skin.

Each ResurFX session typically lasts around 30 minutes, depending on the treatment area. You might experience a warm sensation as the laser targets your skin, but we’ll apply a topical numbing cream for your comfort. We also use ResurFX’s built-in cooling system to further protect your skin.

After your session, you can expect some redness and swelling, similar to a mild sunburn, but these effects should subside within a few days. Avoid direct sun exposure (wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen) and keep your skin moisturized. Most patients can return to their normal activities almost immediately, making this a “lunchtime procedure.”
