Do you know how long your fillers should last? Keep reading to learn more about fillers, what they can do for you, and how long you should expect to go between treatments.
What can fillers do for me?
There are many different types of fillers on the market, which can all be tailored to your concerns. If you want fuller lips, there is a filler that can mimic the texture of your lips. If you want to smooth wrinkles, there are fillers designed to rest under the skin and give you a more plump, smooth look. Fillers can even be used to mimic a nose job in certain situations!
How often will I need to come back for more?
It all depends on what you get, and where your fillers are placed.
Compared to Restylane, Juvederm lasts a little longer. Although both fillers contain hyaluronic acid, Restylane lasts six to nine months, while Juvederm can last nine to 12 months. This is because it has a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid. Some patients report that Juvederm settles in more smoothly following their treatment, with less puffiness. However, there are areas, such as the under eyes, where Restylane is preferred because it doesn’t attract water as much as Juvederm, creating increased puffiness.
Injections to the lips will wear out a little faster than those to the nasolabial folds. Certain HA fillers, such as VOLUMA, are formulated to last longer but are usually limited to certain areas, such as the cheeks.
To make things slightly more complicated, the provider you use may affect how long your fillers last. If your provider isn’t very skilled, they may place the fillers too low or too high, leading to a quicker turnover. That’s why we recommend finding the best provider, and doing your research before you take the plunge.
